Day 62: Dance

This is Day 62 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

We all need to dance more. To celebrate the ways our bodies move. Dancing makes you feel alive, even if you have no rhythm. You can act like a fool in a room by yourself or shake it with your girls in the club. It doesn’t matter. You can dance a waltz or do the lawn mower.

Dancing is hopeful, celebratory and downright fun. You can move a little or a lot. If you weren’t happy when you started dancing, the endorphins will certainly lift your mood by the time you are done.

And if that doesn’t convince you, Jane Austen wrote in Pride & Prejudice “To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love.” Now there’s a reason to dance.

Dancing at age 4

I can’t dance much at the moment, although dancing is easier than simply standing. The CRPS is not a fan of it. Just like it hates gentle breezes and jeans. But, how I dearly love to dance. And I have since I was 4.
