Day 77: Will

This is Day 77 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

Beating or even living with a chronic condition can be a battle of wills. You can have all the hope and support in the world, but if you do not have a strong will to thrive, your body isn’t going to do it without you. When things get tough you have to be willing to dig your heels in and stand your ground.

I tend to like to go big or go home and I am about as stubborn as they come. At least when it comes to pushing through, if you are a small, adorable child or puppy, you will get me every time.

Day 77 : Will | Positive 100 | Chronic Positivity Project

This challenge has been a test of my will. The past couple weeks have been pretty rocky for me personally. I am doing a series of nerve blocks because the cold triggered a flare. Then there was that allergic reaction I had to my last block. And the crazy work load at the office. A dear friend’s loss of her son.

But none of these things are going to stop me from getting things done. I am losing weight even though I can barely stand to walk. I am working my butt off to keep projects on schedule even though I have to take a bit of time off. I am almost keeping up with our cousin knit along (crafting runs in the family). Heck, I have written at least one blog post every day for 77 days in a row.

My disease does not own me or my life. I do. And I am not letting go or giving in.
